![]() Unfortunately MSFT decided to abandon the web building functionality in Publisher and started deprecating it in Pub 2010 and went a step further in Pub 2013 and stripped out the option to insert an HTML code fragment. I don't know how further hobbled it is in Pub 2016 as I haven't loaded it. Reference: Web functionality Pub 2010: As of Pub 2013 you could still create a single or even a multiple page site by File > Save/Export & Send > Publish HTML > and you have two options, click the drop down arrow beside Web Page (HTML) which will produce your index.htm file and index_files folder as you are used to and you will see the option of Single page or MHTML file. If you choose the multiple page you will have to manually build a hyperlink navbar to move among the pages if you aren't using a webpage template. I assume this is true of Pub 2016. One choice is to open one of your old Publisher web files and it will 'activate' the web tab and most of the web building functionality you had before, in Pub 2010. If this doesn't work with Pub 2016 please post back and let me know. If you don't have one of your old web files or web templates from a previous version of Publisher, then there is still one template available online (the last time I looked). Perhaps you could download it and share it with your students. It should 'activate' the web tab in Publisher 2016. MSFT has made it a bit hard to find: Go to File > New > and under Available Templates choose Online Templates > scroll down under More Templates to the More Categories folder > under the Business Category click the All Business Folder > you will see about ten templates and at the bottom a link to More Office.com Templates (152) > scroll all the way to the bottom of those templates and you will see one website template called Web site (Tabs Design), download that template and save to your hard drive. This template will activate the web tab and you can work with it as you did all web templates in Pub 2007 and older. With all this said the handwriting is on the wall. You and your students should be moving away from building your site with Publisher. As I said, as of Pub 2013 they stripped away the ability to insert an HTML code fragment which is an essential tool to build anything but the most basic site. I imagine this functionality is further deprecated in Pub 2016. ![]() MSFT Web Expression is now free and is a full standards compliant web program but also has a huge learning curve. It is over kill for most people that have used Publisher to build their sites. You might also look at WordPress which is also free. Even your web host probably has a free copy and templates are available that look like traditional web pages or blogs. I would also suggest Serif WebPlus which works much like Publisher did and is where I wish MSFT had taken Publisher webs. Download the free starter version which may be all you and your students need and within a couple weeks Serif will start emailing huge discount offers on the newest full version. And look to your web host for a free web building module for basic sites. There are lots of options out there and you should probably start finding an option to Publisher.
